LAZO, Sergey was born on March 7, 1894 in village Pyatry, now Lazo, Kishinev Province.

Studied at Saint St. Petersburg Technol Institute and at Physics and Mathematics Faculty, Moscow University. 1916 graduate Aleksey Military Academy.
June 1916 drafted into army. From December 1916 commanded company in 15th Siberian Reserve Regt in Krasnoyarsk. March 1917 placed his company at disposal of Krasnoyarsk Soviet.
Elected chairman. Soldiers’ Section, Krasnoyarsk Soviet. December 1917 led Red Guard detachment to crush anti-Soviet rebellion in Irkutsk. From February 1918 led military operations against Ataman Semyonov’s Withe troops in Transbaykal.
From fall 1918 member, underground Far Eastern Oblast Russian Communist Party (Bolsheviks) Committee. From spring 1919 commanded Soviet partisan detachments in Maritime region. From December 1919 head, Revol Military Staff to Prepare Rebellion in Maritime Region.
From January 1920 until establishment of Soviet regime in Vladivostok member, Revol Military Council and Far Eastern Bureau, Central Committee, Russian Communist Party (Bolsheviks). April 1920, after Japanese seized Vladivostok, arrested together with other members of Revol Military Council and turned over to White Army.
