Sergey Davydovich Livnev was born on April 16, 1964.
In 1985 he graduated from the camera faculty of VGIK (workshop of V. Yusov). In 1987 he graduated from the scenic faculty of VGIK (A. Bizyak's workshop). After graduation VGIK worked as a screenwriter and playwright.
In 1990, together with Valery Todorovsky and Igor Tolstunov he organized the production company TTL. In 1993 he organized the studio "L-Film". From 1995 to 1998 he was director of the film studio to honor Gorky. During his work, the studio produced 15 feature films and a television production division was set up. In 1999, he left for America, because he believed that in Russia the cinema was ended. He lived there until 2006.
