Career
From 1900 studied at Natural Sciences Faculty, Kiev University. Expelled and drafted into Russian Army for participating in student political movement. From 1914-1935 associate professor, from 1935 professor, Kiev University.
Catalogued stocks of manuscripts and wrote on history of press in Ukraine, paleography, folklore and history of language. Did research on old Slavic lit, works, books published in Russia before 18th Century and lit work of various Ukraine writers.
