MUROMTSEV, Sergey was born on May 25, 1898.
1923 graduate Medical Faculty Moscow University.
After graduate worked at various medical research Institute in Moscow. Did research on anaerobic infections in livestock. 1926 devised simple brain-smear method of detecting animal rabies under the microscope.
1929 introduced a vaccine and therapeutic serum for black quarter in cattle. 1931 helped to organize and supervise a system of state control of veterinary drugs in the Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics. 1934-1943 developed new methods of staining Negri bodies and obtaining semi-liquid vaccines for Soviet veterinary medical.
Also did research on general questions of microbic mutability, immunity and the phagoprophylaxis and treatment of infectious diseases in humans and animals. From 1956 until death director, North. F. Gamaleya Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology, Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics Academy of Medical Sciences. Wrote some 100 works.
