Studied at Kiev Theological Seminary. Graduate Law Faculty, Kiev University.
From 1890’s worked for Ukraine newspapers and journals and for some Russian periodicals. 1905 co-founder, Ukraine Radical Party, which soon merged with the Democrat Party into the Ukraine Radical Democratic Party. Helped lead this party and edited its organs “Nova hromada,” “Hromad’ska dumka” and “Rada”.
During World War 1 supported Tsarist government. After 1917 February Revol helped found Ukraine Socialist-Federalist Party, which advocated an agreement with the Provisional Government based on Ukraine autonomy. As ed, newspaper “Nova rada” conducted a fierce campaign against the Bolsheviks.
From 1917 assistant chairman, Centr Ukraine Rada and Minister for Nationalities, Ukraine People's Republic. 1920, after establishment of Soviet regime in Ukraine, went underground. From 1921 vice-president, All-Ukraine Academy of Sciences.
Wrote many publicistic and lit critical articles, as well as monographs on Ukraine writers, 1930 arrested and sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment in trail of “Ukraine Liberation League”.
Religion is bad because it imposes irrational rules of good and bad behaviour.
Every person has rights to express his or her opinion, but the opinion could be expressed if it was in accordance with the general interests of Soviet society.
