1909 graduate Konstantinovo former local government authority College. 1912 completed teachers' training school at Spas-Klepiki.
1912 went to Moscow and worked at a merchant’s office, then as a proof-reader at a printing shop. Took part in Surikov Literature and Music Circle. From early 1914 contributed verse to Moscow journals.
March 1915 moved to Petrograd. Met Blok, who immediately realized his talent. Also made the acquaintance of South. Gorodetskiy and North. Klyuyev.
1916 first verse collection Radonitsa (Remembrance of the Dead) published. Welcomed to major lit and soc saloons and to Merezhkovskiy and Gippius circle. 1916 drafted into Russian Army.
After 1917 February Revol quit the army and joined a battle squad of the Leftist Socialist-Revol Party. Welcomed 1917 October Revol, but in his own individual manner, with a “peasant deviation”, as he himself put lieutenant Toured Russia and lived in Murmansk, Arkhangel’sk, Kir Steppe, Ukraine and Crimea.
Made friends with Skify (Scythians) group writers - Ivar.ov-Razumnikov and A. Belyy. From 1919 also sided with “Imaginists” but then gradually dissociated himself from both the “Scythians” and the “Imaginist” movement. 1922-1923 made an extensive tour of Germany, France, Belgium and Italy with the dancer Isadora Duncan.
Spent four months in United States of America. 1924-1925 toured Transcaucasia. Wrote verse from age 14.
