Foreign many years directed research on ancient history of northern Black Sea littoral at State Academy for the History ot Material Culture, then at Institute for the History of Material Culture, Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics Academy of Sciences. 1941 directed all Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics Academy of Sciences establishments in besieged Leningrad.
Studied political history of Greece, ancient history of northern Black Sea littoral, classic archeology and ancient religions.
