From 1901 close associate of North. Kumakov at Mining Institute and Polytech Institute, Kiev. From 1915 senior chemist, Chemical Laboratory, Academy of Sciences. His joint research with Kumakov laid the basis of physicochemical analysis.
1905 studied zinc-antimony and magnesium-silver binary metallic systems 1913 studied cadmiumarsenic binary metallic system. 1917 discovered plasticity of manganese containing small additions of copper.
Together with his pupils, studied electrically resistant alloys and laid the basis for their production in the Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics. 1916 discovered a means of obtaining pure platinum and established its properties. Devised a method of studying the microstructure of salt alloys in reflected light.
Studied means of using the Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics’s natural salt deposits in the Caspian’s Kara-Bogaz-Gol Gulf and the salt lakes of the Crimea.
