ZONN, Sergey was born in 1906 in Vladikavkaz.
1930 graduated Gorsk Agriculture Institute.
Specialist in geographical of soil and forest pedology. 1925-1930 at Gorsk Agriculture Institute and Dagestan Water Management Board. 1930-1940 at Leningrad Department, All-Union Research Institute of Fertilizers, Agrotechn. and Agropedology, then senior specialist, Head, Soil and Geography Expedition, and Head, Laboratory of Saline Soils, All-Union Institute of Phytoculture.
1940-1945 associate, Council for the Study of Production Resources, USSR Academy of Science. Member, espeditions to: 1925-1948 Northern Caucasus. 1933-1935 Selengi Basin, Buryat-Mongolia.
1933-1934 northern slopes of Crimean Mountains. 1935-1937 Central Asia. Compiled soil map of Northern Caucasus.
Classified agricultural reclamation districts of Terek Basin. Worked out classification for soils of USSR vineyards. Discovered new types of mountainforest soils.
