Sergey Stepanovich Kartavenko obtained higher education at the Second Moscow State Medical Institute n.a. N.I. Pirogova at the pediatric faculty (1966-1972). His first specialty was anesthetist-resuscitationist. After graduating from the medical institute (1972-1974) he studied anesthesiology and resuscitation at Clinical Residency in the Moscow Regional Research Clinical Institute n.a. M.F. Vladimirsky (MONIKI), in 1974-1980 worked as a physician in the Department of Anesthesiology and Reanimatology of the Institute. At the same time with practical medical work he was engaged in research in the field of physical (non-medicamentous) and integrated with them anesthesia methods.
Kartavenko began his career as a radio technician of electronic equipment at the Pyrometric Instrumentation Plant in Kaluga (1965-1966) after the graduation of a high school. Since 1975 Sergey Stepanovich Kartavenko began to master acupuncture as a means of treating acute and chronic pain. In 1976 he underwent a primary specialization in reflexology. In 1979 Sergey Stepanovich completed postgraduate courses in reflexology and neurology at Central Institute for Postgraduate Training for Doctors.
In 1994 Kartavenko was appointed as a senior researcher of the Pain Syndrome Department of the Russian Scientific Center of Surgery of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences (RSCS RAMS), where he worked until 1996. Since 1996 he’s been a leading researcher of the department, head of the group of electroimpulse methods of anesthesia and therapy. Since 1994 he has simultaneously combined the work of a physician-reflexotherapist at LLC Integrative Medicine at the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences. He passed professional trainings in neurology and several certification cycles of postgraduate training.
In 2014 he became a head of the Department of Reflexology and Integrative Therapy of Pain Syndromes of the Consultative and Diagnostic Center of the State Research Center for Preventive Medicine of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation.
Scientific and practical achievements of Sergey Stepanovich Kartavenko are marked by a number of honorable awards: Gold Medal and Diploma of the international jury of the First World Exhibition of Young Inventors’ Achievements "EXPO-85" (for the developed new highly effective method of electropunctural anesthesia). He was awarded a number of Diplomas, including: International exhibition "Healthcare-90" (for the high scientific and technical level of the developed equipment series "EPANAL"), International Exhibition of Innovations "INNOTECH EXPO-2009" (where the complex of equipment "ARATE" designed according to ideology and under the guidance of Dr. Kartavenko for non-invasive electrical pulse treatment of pain by the method of REAT was awarded with a diploma "Winner in the nomination" Domestic Medical Equipment ").
In 2008 Kartavenko was elected a full member (academician) of the Russian Academy of Medical and Technical Sciences. In 2016 he was awarded the European Gold Medal for published scientific works on the direction of pain syndromes treatment and for practical achievements in this field.
Sergey Stepanovich Kartavenko developed integrative technique of significant increase in the effectiveness of the action of pharmacological as well as homeopathic (antihomotoxic) drugs for various types of pain syndromes and functional disorders by their combined use with the REAT method.
