Sergey Viktorovich graduated from the Voronezh State Medical Institute in 1985. In 1990, he left Voronezh for Moscow where he continued his studies and obtained a degree in literature from the Maxim Gorky Literature Institute in Moscow (1993).
In the years 1985-1988 Sergey Viktorovich Popov worked as a physician of the Road Hospital of the South-Eastern Railway. Since 1990 he was a physician of the Voronezh Regional Clinical Diagnostic Center, Assistant of the Department of Instrumental Diagnostic Methods of the Voronezh State Medical Academy (since 1998).
His works began to be printed in 1977. Published in the magazines "New World", "Young Guard", "Literary Studies", "New Youth" and others. He was an editor and publisher of the literary miscellany "Breden" (Voronezh, since 2000).
