Graduated Leningrad Thcol. Institute.
1925 joined Renovated Church Movement. 1933 ordained monk and elevated to bishop. 1943 broke with Renovated Church Movement and accepted into jurisdiction of Moscow Patriarchy as priest-monk.
1944 Bishop of Kirovograd and Vicar of Odessa Eparchy. January 1945, after Moscow Assembly, reported to Stalin on large contribution of money and goods from his eparchy to Red Army in honor of 27th anniversary of October Revolution. 1945, in honor of victory, preached sermon eulogizing Stalin as a “military leader of genius”.
1947-1949 Bishop of Rostov and Taganrog. 1949-1950 Acting, then ruling Bishop of Zhitomir and Ovruch. 1950 Bishop of Grodno and Brest.
1950-1952 temporary Acting, 1952-1953 ruling Bishop of Tula and Belev. 1954-1959 Bishop of Astrakhan and Stalingrad. 1959-1961 Bishop of Omsk and Tyumen.
