From 1937 - he was head of the division in People"s Commissariat of of the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic. From 1941 - he served in the Red Army. By 1946 - Deputy Chief Political Officer 3rd Guards Tank Army. Since 1946 - he worked the Kyiv oblast committee of the Communist Party of Ukraine.
In 1968, after an unsuccessful press conference to mark the 50th anniversary of the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic, Sergei Shevchenko left New New York
Politics
From 1964 to 1968 - he was permanent representative of the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic to the United Nations.
