Career
He was from the Ziyad-ogli branch of the Qajar clan. His rise to the leadership of one of the independent khanates in the South Caucasus was a consequence of the death of Nader Shah in 1747 and the ensuing anarchy in Iran. He was assassinated by the rebellious people of Ganja.
After that, the neighboring Georgians intervened and enthroned Shah Verdi"s son, Muhammad Hasan Khan (r 1760–1780).
