The abrupt departure stemmed from being charged in Dane County (Wisconsin) Circuit Court with three felony counts of identity theft. Morkin was also a first-time Mission Wisconsin United States of America entrant, however she competed in the 2007 and 2008 Mission Wisconsin Teen United States of America pageants, placing as a semi-finalist.
Porterfield is the first woman to resign the Mission Wisconsin-United States of America title.
