Emmett attended Street John The Baptist primary school in Woy Woy and Street Edward"s Christian Brothers College and Corpus Christi College, graduating in 1993. Initially, Emmett wanted to pursue a career in journalism and completed a degree in Communications (BMedia) at Macquarie University in 1998 while Belinda"s career was well under way with roles in Hey Dad.!.
Emmett is the younger brother of the late actress, Belinda Emmett. He is the third of four children (Lesley, Belinda and Matthew). And Home and Away. lieutenant wasn"t until he performed in several short films as part of his study that Emmett realised his passion was for performing, not journalism.
He promptly began pursuing a career in acting.
Emmett is also known for his performance as Frank Sinatra in the musical From Here To Eternity, Marius in Les Misérables and most recently, Captain Von Trapp in The Sound of Music. Emmett is better known for his television roles over the last two decades, playing Aiden O"Hara in All Saints (1999), Colin Lowndes in Rush (2009), Doctor Patrick in Offspring (2010) and Mark Gilmour in Home and Away (2011).
Since then he has gone on to play the editor of The Australian Max Newton in the biographical miniseries Power Games: The Packer-Murdoch War and Clayton Timms in the Universal television series Precinct 13. Emmett is also known for his work as a presenter on the television morning show 9am with David & Kim (2009) as well as Good Morning Australia, Global Media Arts and The Morning Show in 2009 and 2011.
Emmett has performed across a wide range of leading roles in a variety of mediums ranging from quirky comedies to drama and thrillers.
An accomplished singer and dancer, Emmett began his career in musical theatre, gaining recognition in 2003 for his performance of the lead Frank Marlow in the musical Get Happy in Sydney. An accomplished and award winning film-maker, offscreen Emmett has produced and created a number of internationally recognised short films with his filmmaking partner Jason Van Genderen. He won both "Best Film" and "People"s Choice Award" in Tropfest New York in 2008 with the film "Mankind Is Number Island". The film was shot entirely on a cell phone and won Best Short Documentary at the Inside Film Awards in 2009. The team have made 11 films together that have screened all over the world and won numerous awards.
