Chang, Shang-Tzen Peter was born on June 16, 1952 in Hsin-chu, Taiwan, Republic of China. Son of Chinchao and Yuying (Hus) Chang.


Bachelor of Science in Forest Product, National Taiwan University, 1975. Master of Science in Forest Products, National Taiwan University, 1979. Doctor of Philosophy in Forest Products, Virginia Polytechnic Institute/State University, 1982.


Associate research fellow Taiwan Forest Research Institute, Taipei, 1983-1986, research fellow and head, 1986-1990. Professor National Taiwan University, since 1990, director Experimental Forest Nanton, Taiwan, 1997-1998. Visiting scientist Purdue University, West Lafayette, Inc., 1989.

Visiting professor University Nancy, France, 1996. Advisory consultant Taiwan Forestry Research Institute, Taipei, since 1995. Advisory member The Chinese Forest Association, Taipei, since 1996.
