KAMAL, Sharif was born on March 28, 1884 in village Pishlya, Penza Province (now Kuznetsk Rayon, Mordovian Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic). Son of a mullah.

Studied at medressah.
1900 began work on construction of Moscow-Kursk Railroad. 1901-1903 in Istanbul. 1903-1905 worked in Donets Coalfields, then for Caspian fisheries.
1905 in Saint St. Petersburg taught at Tat elementary school and simultaneously proof-reader, newspaper “Nur”. 1905-1910 taught at village school and engaged in agric work. 1906 first work printed.
1910-1920 inOrenburg contributed toTatnewspapers"Vakt" and “Eshchelyar Dunyasy”. In 1910’s became closely ayquainted with representatives of revol Tat lit G. Tukay and G. Kamal. 1923-1925 contributed to Orenburg newspapers “Yul” and “Saban”.
1934 translated into Tat Sholokhov’s Podnyataya tselina (Virgin Soil Upturned). From 1935 worked for Kazan’ newspapers, House of Tat Culture, Tat Main Literature Board and Tat Proletarian Writers’ Association, et cetera During World War 2 wrote a number of patriotic articles
Many of his works have been translated into Russian. In his early period was strongly influenced by Gorky.
