Sharon earned a degree in Education at University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.
Sharon taught in elementary school in Stonebank and Oak Creek. Now, she lives in Dells, Wisconsin.
Her work for children has been published in a wide variety of children’s magazines including Cricket, Highlights for Children, Ladybug, The Friend, Winner, Hopscotch, Boys’ Quest, Pockets, and Shine Brightly. Combining her writing background with her teaching experience, Addy leads story-writing workshops for elementary and middle school students, and is an instructor at the Institute of Children’s Literature. A number of Addy's books also incorporate her love of history.
She is a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators.
On August 9, 1969 Sharon married Gordon Addy, a hydraulic repairman. They have two children: Mari Jo Bum and Jill.
