This handy resource evolved out of a classroom environment reflecting the realities of the information age. Thunderbird students, being well versed in international business, culture and language, gathered global business information on the World Wide Web for assigned regions of the world. Shaun Dakin was born on August 12, 1966, in Kenya. He is the son of Donald J. Dakin, a lawyer, and Kae G. Dakin, a development director.
Dakin graduated from the Colby College in 1989 with a bachelor's degree. He then obtained Master of Management degree at the American Graduate School of International Management, in 1995.
Shaun Dakin began his career in 1989, when he was appointed as a high school English teacher in Japan, for two years. In the organization the Hechinger, in Reston, he served as a training specialist, from 1992 till 1993. That same year Dakin become an instructional designer at the Universal Systems, Inc. in Chantilly, staying there just for a year, as well. From 1996 he worked at the Federal Express in Memphis, holding the position of a senior marketing analyst.
Dakin is the founder of the company Dakin Associates, a digital marketing, social media, communications and strategy consulting firm. There he helps organizations optimize for measurable outcomes that create lasting change.
In addition, he has also worked as an advocate in data privacy as the co-founder of Privacy Camp, a series of "un" conferences on data privacy that have been held in DC, San Francisco, Toronto and Paris.
Currently, Shaun has led product and marketing strategy at FedEx, webMethods, Fannie Mae, Laureate Education, IXI Corporation and The Motley Fool.
In the nonprofit category, he was the founder and CEO of The National Political Do Not Contact Registry (NPDNC or StopPoliticalCalls.org) where he became the country's most recognized advocate for voter privacy rights and grew the organization to over 500,000 members.
In 2008 he testified at the US Senate on the tragedy of political robocalls.
