Keough, Shawn was born on December 30, 1959 in Pompton Plains, New Jersey, United States.
Keough graduated from Walnut Hills High School in Cincinnati, Ohio but has lived in Idaho since 1979, where she attended North Idaho College and Lewis Clark State College studying business management.
She has been Executive Director for the Associated Logging Contractors since 2000. She has represented District 1 in the Idaho State Senate since 1996. 1998- Re-elected with 9,957 votes.
2000- Re-elected with 11,413 votes (734%) against Steve Johnson (Doctorate) with 3,635 votes and Frank Reichert (L) with 496 votes.
2002- Re-elected with 7,904 votes (716%) of the votes against Gary L. Pietsch (Doctorate). 2004- Re-elected with 12,630 votes (751%) against Patty “Douglas” Palmer (Doctorate).
2006- Re-elected with 9,308 votes (6858%) against Jim Ramsey (Doctorate). 2008- Re-elected with 15,322 votes.
2010- Re-elected with 11,593 votes.
