Toovey was born March 1, 1983 in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Career

His family moved to San Antonio, Texas when he was four and ultimately ended up in California, where Shawn spent the next six years playing the endearing Brian Cooper on the Columbia Broadcasting System television series Doctor Quinn, Medicine Woman. Toovey played the role of Tiny Tim opposite fellow Doctor Quinn actor Orson Bean in the theater production of A Christmas Carol. 1994: Youth in Film Award - Best Actor in a Drama Series, 10 and under
