Career

Commanded additional 2d lieut. engrs., June 11, 1897. 2d lieut., July 5, 1898. Advanced through the grades to brigadier general, (temporary), October 1, 1918.

Brigadier general United States Army, April 1, 1933. In field in Cuba, May-September, 1938. In Philippines, 1899-1901.

Participated in operations about San Fabian, later in Cavite Province and in expedition to Nueva Caceres, and chief engineer officer Department of Southern Luzon. A.-d.-c. to Major General J. C. Bates, at Chicago and St. Louis, 1903-1905. Duty with General Staff, 1907-1911.

Director Army Field Engineer School, 1914-1915. On Mexican border, 1915-1917. Went to France on special commission, June 1917.

Commander 110th Regiment Engineers, 1918. Representative of chief of engrs. at General Headquarters, American Expeditionary Force, 1918. Director Army Transport Service, later director general transportation, 1919.
