Shigeno was Toshonokami (Chief Librarian) and then Тogu Gakushi (lecturer to Crown Prince) of the Court. He compiled Hifuryaku, a collection of Confucian classics in 1,000 pamphlets, at the order of Emperor Junnaand also participated in the compilation of Keikokushii, an anthology.
