Shigeru Kawai entered Kawai Gakki Seisaku-jo (1946) and served as superintendent of its plant. He became director (1951) and then senior managing director. Also Shigeru Kawai was appointed director of Shizuoka-ken Sangyo Gijutsu Kyokai (Shizuoka Prefectural Industrial Technique Association) (1948) and Enshu Keieisha Kyokai (Enshu District Employers' Association) (1949).
