Shigesaburo Oku

Background

Shigesaburo Oku was born in 1862. He was the eldest son of Suetsugu Oku, a priest at the Otokoyama Shrine by family profession.

Education

Shigesaburo Oku studied at Kyoto Normal School and Osaka Hogakusha, a law school. Received a diploma of attorney (1887) and entered politics.

Career

Shigesaburo Oku became chief of the Kyoto chapter of the Jiyuto (Liberal Party), was elected to the House of Representatives eight times since 1898.
