Shikatsube no-Magao was a Japanese kyoka (satirical waka) composer.
Background
Shikatsube no-Magao was born in 1753 in Tokyo, Japan.
Career
Shikatsube became a disciple of Harumachi Koikawa, a writer and wrote kibyoshi (stories for the masses) under the name of Sukimachi Koikawa. Later he studied kyoka under Shoku-Sanjin and became a judge of kyoka. Shikatsune was a rival of Masamochi Ishikawa, kyoka master, with whom he feuded continually.
