Career
Shima was appointed a judge in the Tokyo District Court, Tokyo Higher Court and the Supreme Court in 1935. In the meantime he visited Europe and the United States and was instructor at the Tohoku University, First Higher School and Hosei University. In the closing stages of his life Shima Tamotsu served as a judge in the Supreme Court.
