Shimada imported new medicines from advanced Western countries as a new branch of his family business. After the Russo-Japanese War (1904-1905), he opened branch offices at Seoul and Talien (Dairen), Manchuria. Kyube was a director of the Toyo Oxygen and some other chemical firms.
