Shiming Lin, Chinese biotechnologist. Achievements include first to reveal the surface ultrastructure of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome coronavirus; research in severe acute respiratory syndrome (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome) coronavirus and breakthroughs in nanomechanics; invention of electric antibody sensor. Recipient Outstanding Technology Transferring award, National Science Council Taiwan, 2005. Member of Biosensor Society Taiwan.

Lin, Shiming was born on March 30, 1963 in Nantou, Taiwan.

Education

Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, National Taiwan University, Taipei, 1986. Master of Science in Biochemistry, National Taiwan University, Taipei, 1991. Doctor of Philosophy in Biotechnology, University Cambridge, England, 1995.

Career

Assistant professor Center Optoelectronic Biomedicine National Taiwan University, Taipei, 1998—2001, associate professor Center for Optoelectronic Biomedicine and Institute Applied Mechanics Taiwan, 2002—2005, professor Taiwan, since 2006.
