Shin-ichi Mashita taught as professor at Doshisha University (from 1933) during which time his leftist tendency caused the government to bear oppression upon him. First he took position of existential philosophy from which he advanced into materialism. After the war he became professor of First Higher School and then professor of Nagoya University in 1948.
