Shingoro Ikushima was born in Osaka, originally named Kuranosuke Noda.
Shingoro was an apprentice in the Nakamuraza Theater where he was influenced by the performance of Shichisaburo Nakamura and became an actor (1689). Later because of an affair with Ejima, an attendant of the Shogunst was exiled (1712). His hit role was in the play Sliirozakeuri (vender of white sake).
