Shinryu Umehara graduated from Ryukoku College.Then he was a graduate of Kyoto Buddhism University.
Shinryu Umehara established the Kenshin educational institution. Entered politics and was elected to House of Councilors on a Ryoku-fukai Party ticket. Shinryu Umehara was a secretary of Educational Section of Hon-ganji Temple, chief temple of Jodo Shinshu Sect and chief editor of Kenshin Gakuen (Academy of Revelation) magazine and member of House of Representatives.
Among his works are Shinran Shonin (Saint Shinran) and Jodo Shinshu-no Ninshiki-to Jissen (Comprehension and Practice of Jodo Shinshu).
