Stayed in Europe for seven years. Returned to Japan after World War II broke out. Joined the Ohara Social Problems Research Institute and then became a leader writer of the Tokyo Asahi Shimbun (newspaper). Was a member of the brain trust of Prince Fumimaro Konoe.
