He studied electronic engineering at the Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara College of Engineering and Technology in Dharwad. He then studied Advanced Screenwriting at the University of Southern California"s School of Cinematic Arts in Los Los Angeles
He worked for Motorola. The editing of Farah Khan"s Main Hoon Na in 2004 brought him fame. Shirish has officially edited over 20 movies and helped in the final cut of many more.
Shirish then turned to directing.
His directorial debut was titled Jaan-East-Mann. Apart from editing and composing the film score, he also wrote the film.
The film starred Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar and Preity Zinta, and was released on 20 October 2006. The film was commercially an average fare but was critically acclaimed for its innovative directorial style.
