Upon graduation from Tokyo University's Medical Department, Shizuta Nose entered the Military Medical College and specialized in surgery. In 1890 he went to Austria for study and then studied at Berlin University. After returning to Japan, he was attached to the Military College.
Shizuta Nose participated in the Seventh Universal Red Cross Conference in Petrograd in 1902 as a Japanese delegate. He became director of the Army Hospital. Shizuta practiced medicine in Odawara, Kanagawa Prefecture, in his late years.
