Shlomo Gur founder member of Kibbutz Tel Amal, credited with building the first homa u"migal, and subsequently managed the building of 57 of them between 1936 and 1939.
Career
Following the establishment of the state of Israel he was project manager of the Hebrew University, the National Library and the Knesset. Shlomo Gur then consulted Jerusalem architect Yohanan Ratner who provided the blueprint for the subsequent constructions. He was the first director of Israel"s Military research department.
Membership
The first homa u"migal settlement was constructed in the summer of 1936 by members of Kibbutz Tel Amal who needed to extend their control over surrounding land in the Beit She"an Valley whilst faced with hostility from the local Bedouin population.
