Shoda of Shokokuji was born in 1548 in Japan.
Lived at the Shokokuji and Nanzenji temples in Kyoto and and then at the Rokuonji (Kinkaku - Golden Pavilion) Temple. Also was trusted by Hideyoshi Toyotomi, and served as his adviser writing letters and drafting laws for him. The manuscripts entitled Keickono Bunan (The Scripts of the Keicho Era) (10 volumes) and his Nikki or diary (3 volumes) serve as valuable historical materials.
