Shoichi Yamamoto left Law Department of Nihon University without graduating.
In 1927, Shoichi Yamamoto began practice of law. He became member of Kamakura Municipal Assembly and Kanagawa Prefectural Assembly (1940), member of House of Representatives (1946), counselor of Tozai Steamship Company (1951) and director of Nihon Rinkai Soko (Water-Front Warehouse) Company (1951) and auditor of Koto Natural Gas Company (1952).
Shoichi Yamamoto elected to House of Representatives for the third and fourth time (1952 and 1953) and became member of Cabinet Committee (1953) and Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Hokkaido Development Agency (1954).
