Studied Chinese painting of the South School under Nanko Haruki and Daizan Hirose. Also learned from Chinese paint¬ings of the Yuan and Ming Dynasties.
Career
After the Restoration in 1868, he served in the Imperial government. He was also a remarkable poet and seal-engraver.
