Shokai Michihiro

Background

Shokai Michihiro was born in 1234. He was the grandson of Michihiro Kono of Iyo Province (Ehime Prefecture), he was a nephew of Ippen.

Education

He became a disciple of Ippen and was noted for his ardent faith.

Career

Tadanori Fujiwara, who was Kampaku (adviser to the Emperor) was among his followers. Established the Kankikoji Temple (1291) and edited the picture biography of his master, Ippen. Priest En-i was responsible for the pictures.
