Shokei Takeda was born in about 1460. He was the son of Prime Minister Kintsune Fujiwara.

Shokei Takeda was born in about 1460. He was the son of Prime Minister Kintsune Fujiwara.
He studied medicine and Confucianism.
According to records, he followed his elder brother Kinsada to prison at the Takeda Manor, for some political offense but was later pardoned and appointed Lord of Yamashiro.
After this he studied medicine and Confucianism and became a priest under the name of Jitsujo-Sozu. In 1364, he went to China and became a disciple of Kin-o-doshi and mastered medicine. He later married his master's daughter.
He returned to Japan in 1378 and for curing the illness of Emperor Enyii was conferred the title of Huin
