In 2003, Madiraju wrote "Biryani and Irani chai" a collection of nine short stories and "Cafe Confuxion", a story for an animation film. Madiraju"s first short film "Underground" was well received at the 2004 New York International Independent Film Festival. In 2004, Shrikar directed his first feature film called "The DownRising" which premiered at the Avalon Theatre in Washington District of Columbia and was well received by critics.
