Shuhei Nishida participated in several Olympic Games. Won the pole vault championship at the International. He was director of the Japan Field and Track Athletic Federation.

In the 10th Olympic Meet at Los Angeles (1932), competed in the finals against American pole-vaulter Miller but lost with the mark of 4.28 meters. Also competed against America's Meadows in pole vault at the 11th Olympic Meet and took second place with a leap of 4.25 meters.
