Shuichiro Tabata was born in 1903 in Japan.
He graduated from Waseda University's English Literature Section.
He was recognized as a writer of minute realism after "Children of the Shimada Family", the first collection of short stories, was published in 1938. "Fusaichi Takama, a Physician", his only long novel, is considered the most representative of his works. A nostalgia for the unknown characterizes all his stories.
