Tanomura Shuko was born in 1868. He was a great grandson of Chikuden Tanomura.
Tanomura studied in Meiji Law School and made researches of Chinese legislature.
Shuko entered the services of Yomiuri Shimbun (newspaper), and Nihon Shimbun. He originated a new style of comic waka poems called Henaburi and published them in Yomiuri Shimbun, under the pen name of Bokunenjin or Bokusanjin.
