Shunshi Takagai

Background

Takagai Shunshi was born in Hiroshima Prefecture, 1891.

Education

Graduated from Department of Religion of Tokyo University (1922).

Career

Became professor of Toyo University (1923) and vice-president (1934) and then president (1943) of Musashino Joshi Gakuin (Musashino Women's Institute) and president of Chiyoda Women's College and thereafter became president of Musashino Women's Junior College (since 1950), Studied science of religion in Europe and America.

Was instrumental in organizing the Bukkyo Seinenkai (Young Men's Buddhist Association). Held additional post at Nihon Shukyogakukai (Japan Society of Science of Religion).
