朱徳
Shutoku was born in 1580 in Japan. He is said to have been a native of Suo Province (Yamaguchi Prefecture).
He was a disciple of Sesshu.
Comparatively many works of Shutoku remain today, including Buddhist images and landscapes. His works show that he respected the old style of Indian ink painting more than Sesshu did. The most famous of his extant paintings is that of Hanshan, a legendary Chinese recluse. Compared to his works, very few works of other disciples of Sesshu, including Shuko and Yogetsu, remain today.
