He was a Conservative party councillor from 1984 to 1988 on Sheffield City Council. He became leader of the Christian Peoples Alliance in 2012. They agreed to a divorce in April 2000.
Cordle was employed by Prudential Assurance Company Limited (now: Prudential plc) from 1978 to 1996.
From 1996 to 1997 he was a self-employed independent financial adviser (IFA) before he accepted a job as managing director and IFA with Scott Briscoe Limited (1997-2011). Cordle was a Conservative Party councillor in Sheffield from 1982 to 1988.
He stood for the Conservatives in Sheffield Heeley at the general election in 1983 and in Sheffield Hillsborough at the 1992 general election. Foreign the Christian Peoples Alliance, he stood against Nick Clegg in Sheffield Hallam at the 2005 general election and in Erith and Thamesmead at the 2015 general election.
In the 2009 European Elections, he was number one on the Christian Peoples Alliance list in Yorkshire and the Humber.
