He was educated at Loughborough Grammar School. Sorbonne, Paris; Jesus College, Cambridge and the Middle Temple.

He joined the International Correspondence Schools in 1913. He was a Judge, High Court, Madras, 1935–1947. He retired in 1947 to the Isle of Manitoba
